Tropical fruits, mango groves, palm trees and sparkling seas have all come together to make this a perfect paradise.
Puerto Vallarta is the nearest International airport to Chacala. It is in the state of Jalisco but Chacala is in the state of Nayarit with the coast known as the ‘Riviera Nayarit.’ Driving to Chacala from Puerto Vallarta airport takes approx 90 mins. Puerto Vallarta is 1 hour later than Chacala (important to remember when calculating the return for your flight!) The road is very good – it is a straight shot north from PV airport through beautiful jungle, farmland and small villages. It’s a 2-way highway that is occasionally slowed down by large trucks. However, the new Autopista (‘Cuota’) is almost complete and will reduce the driving time between Estrellas and the airport to an hour.
A car is an advantage if you want to explore the small towns and local beaches on the Riviera Nayarit. If you rent a car, it is not a difficult drive, but there are a few road rules that are different from other countries. Be sure to obey local speed limits and avoid driving at night as roads aren’t well lit and sometimes the condition of the road can change without notice through small towns & villages.
Using an airport taxi or a private taxi service is very efficient. Once you get to Villa Estrellas you will not need a car and the local taxi services are not expensive.
